ONE WORD TRIGGERS

Music with expression

Highlights of the week

This weeks pots of gold were:

  • Lost In Your Inbox had a nice post which introduced me to an artist I hadn’t listened to before. Teitur is a young Danish artist whose second album ‘Singer’ was released for downloads on 8th April. Two tracks are posted ‘Catherine The Waitress’ and ‘We Still Drink The Same Water’. Read the post [here]
  •  *Sixeyes had a review of Jason Collett and posted 4 tracks to sample including ‘Papercut Hearts’ off his new album ‘Here’s to Being Here’ which has been on my MP3 player for a while now. Read the post [here
  • Fancy something to get your feet tapping? Try a PLAGUE OF ANGELS who posted on DE NOVO DAHL from Nashville. Wow! Again, a new one on me but I thoroughly enjoyed the 3 tracks posted and I’m going to be on the lookout for more from these guys. File under wake-up music. Read the post [here]
  • Bag Of Songs post ‘Just Some Midweek Randomness’is worth a visit. 10 nice tracks including one from Adele and a remix of Duffy’s ‘Mercy’. Read the post [here
  • Good Weather For Airstrikes introduces us to Marina & The Diamonds. I like this one but I really can’t explain why. It’s Kate Nash/Lilly Allen/ etc., etc, etc. – but I’ve been playing ‘We’ve Got Obsessions’ again and again. See what you think and read the post [here
  • Kickin’ The Peanuts has mixed together a Spring set and posted 8 songs that offer up seasonal flavour. They admit that it might be a little on the tacky side but they are certainly bright and breezy numbers. One little nugget in there is ‘Sun Lotion’ from Steadman which just happens to be one of my favourite tracks from a much under-played artist. Read the post [here]
  • Music Arcadeputs together some fine podcasts and #81 is no exception. Tracks from The Raconteurs, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Drive-by Truckers, Dead Meadow, and Josh Ritter. Read/Listen/Download [here]
  • The Late Greats posted a Bill Evans jazz instrumental in preparation of his forthcoming ‘Jazz Week’ theme. As you may have guessed I’m a jazz fan and I’m really looking forward to Duke’s posts next week. Listen to this beautifully relaxing track [here]
  • Pelican’s Perch always put together some fantastic mixes and this one is no exception (and it also fits in nicely with my latest Trigger). ‘Vol.5 – Sleep’ is just what I need! Browse the archives because some of the old mixes are still available and hold some great tracks. Check out the post [here
  • Mainstream Isn’t So Bad….Is It? review Van Morrison’s current album “Keep It Simple” which is a splendid mixture of Blues/Jazz/Country that he’s been doing for the last 40 years. Two tracks are there to sample and are a must for listening to. Read the post [here
  • Music For Kids Who Can’t Read Good has a track-by-track review of the latest Cloud Cult album “Feel Good Ghosts (Tea-Partying Through Tornadoes)” which includes three sample tracks. Read the post [here]
