Jon Regen: Tour Dates
I had a very nice email from Jon Regen the other day, thanking me for including his track ‘Finding My Way Back To Me’ in the recent post ‘TRIGGER: Back’.You might recall I kind of took a shine to Jon’s album “Let It Go” when I first discovered it after a couple of tracks were posted on Ick Music back in April. Here’s what I wrote in the Highlight of The Week post back then…
“Ick Music just got a big fat 10 on my scorecard! Two tracks from an artist called Jon Regen are posted as a review of his 2007 album “Let It Go”. Their description of this album reads: “…Let it Go is one of those records. There is something to it that just feels like home.” Home??? Hell, I’ve got my pipe and slippers out here!!! This is just what the doctor ordered for a nice relaxing evening after a long hard day. Just added this one to my shopping cart at CD Baby!…”
For those unfamiliar with his work, take a listen to the track I recently posted or head on over to his Webiste [here] or his Myspace [here].

TRIGGER: Child
Where did the last 17 (or so) years go?
I’ve been sorting out the photo’s I took on my recent holiday…adding descriptions, cropping here and there and the odd spot of light enhancement….
And as always I got sidetracked and found myself looking back on some old shots of the kids at various stages through their lives so far.
I suddenly realised that the ‘kids’ are not the little dependant beings they were…they’re young adults with strong views and opinions of their own. Able to do pretty much anything an adult can (and probably a lot better than I can).
But to me they will always be the little girl and boy who came into my life and brought a whole new meaning to it….and emptied my bank account (repeatedly) - but that’s another story.
So the trigger is….

TRIGGER: Back
I’m back from vacation, and fully rested….
Or I was until I started back to work.
I had hoped for a slow and gentle easing back into the flow this week. What I got was a full on deluge of work.
Holiday?…..what holiday?
Still, this weekend is a Bank Holiday here in the UK so I get an extra day to rest up this weekend then it’s the big push towards Christmas.
September to December are traditionally my busiest periods. Long hours. Hard, heavy work and (hopefully) a corresponding income.
So….putting all thoughts of vacation behind me….the trigger is…

TRIGGER: Surf
Week 2 of our summer vacation…and relaxation is the order of the day….every day!
We all have our own ways of relaxing and our own interpretation of just what relaxation is. I guess I’m one of those people who can’t turn off completely. Never have been been able to just lie on a beach or around the pool and do absolutely nothing. Even if it’s just reading a book, I have to be doing something.
As a family we all have a tremendous love of reading and books so you can guess what we’ve done a lot of this holiday so far.
My true relaxation is painting…and there’s no shortage of subject matter here.
We’ve spent a lot of time at the beach and in the surf. Or rather my Son has spent a lot of time in the surf….so has our dog!!! Cornwall boasts some of the best surfing beaches in the UK and both are in their element here.
So this week’s trigger is….

TRIGGER: Beach
We’re off for our Summer Vacation…and not a moment too soon!
I really feel like I need a rest…this is the first break I’ve had since last year’s vacation…2 weeks off in a year. (Note to self: need to sort that!)
Still, as my Wife reminds me….she works 52 weeks a year, 365 days, 24/7….Now I know why I didn’t put in for that job!!!
This will probably be the last holiday we take as a family. The kids are growing up and my daughter is about ready to start doing her own ‘holiday thing’, so I hope this is one for us all to remember.
Come Saturday morning we head for the unspoilt coast of Cornwall for two weeks of rest, relaxation, sightseeing and reading. And in my case….painting too. Lots of lovely coastal scenes to capture on canvas.
Let’s hope that the weather smiles on us and we’re able to get onto the beach for a while each day….can’t wait to see the kids faces when they see my new Borat-style swim suit!
I’ve set up a couple of posts for while I’m away, so hopefully there will be service as usual here.
In the meanwhile, the trigger is…
