TRIGGER: Beach

We’re off for our Summer Vacation…and not a moment too soon!

I really feel like I need a rest…this is the first break I’ve had since last year’s vacation…2 weeks off in a year. (Note to self: need to sort that!)

Still, as my Wife reminds me….she works 52 weeks a year, 365 days, 24/7….Now I know why I didn’t put in for that job!!!

This will probably be the last holiday we take as a family. The kids are growing up and my daughter is about ready to start doing her own ‘holiday thing’, so I hope this is one for us all to remember.

Come Saturday morning we head for the unspoilt coast of Cornwall for two weeks of rest, relaxation, sightseeing and reading. And in my case….painting too. Lots of lovely coastal scenes to capture on canvas.

Let’s hope that the weather smiles on us and we’re able to get onto the beach for a while each day….can’t wait to see the kids faces when they see my new Borat-style swim suit!

I’ve set up a couple of posts for while I’m away, so hopefully there will be service as usual here.

In the meanwhile, the trigger is…

TRIGGER: Feet

I’ve been eyeing up my wife’s foot spa today. All those soft soapy bubbles and vibration.

You see, as part of my work I walk miles. I drive miles too, but I’ve yet to see a dedicated bum spa…..so a foot spa will have to suffice.

My feet are killing me (if you hadn’t already guessed) and I think the opportunity to put my feet up over the weekend will not materialise, so I’m going to treat myself to a bit of pampering.

Anyway, that leads me nicely into a Trigger, which is…

Hats off to Leona Lewis

Whether you like or dislike Leona Lewis’ singing style, you have to take your hat off to her!

First off, her single ‘Bleeding Love’ conquered the USA, claiming the Number One spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. It was 21 years previously that a British female solo artist achieved that milestone (Kim Wilde’s cover of the Supremes’ “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” – 1987).

Then today, her album “Spirit” entered the Billboard album chart in USA at Number 1. This is the first time in music history that a British female artist has debuted on Billboard at Number 1.

Personally, I’m no great fan of her music although, yes, I did watch her on X-Factor. And yes, you can say that her success has been ‘engineered’ by Simon Cowell and Co. But at the end of the day, people are buying her music. (Album sales in excess of 204,000.)

Good luck to her! And YAY!!! for the Brits!

To celebrate, here’s a track from her album…not that I have a copy you understand….(looks sheepishly away…)
