TRIGGER: Weekend

AT LAST!!!

The end of a hot, sunny and sticky week.

I’ve been looking forward to the weekend for days now. Don’t you just hate it when you can’t wait for the weekend to arrive?….it just seems to make the week drag even more slowly!!

Still, 2 days off now to sit and relax and do nothing……I WISH!!!

I have a list of jobs as long as my arm to do around the house and garden. Then there’s my Wife’s Father’s garden to sort out tomorrow morning.

Oh yeah…and a few errands to run to get things ready for our vacation. We’re off next Saturday…..that’s another weekend I can’t wait to get here.

Obviously, the trigger is…

Weekend    [wee-kend]
-noun
1. the end of a week, esp. the period of time between Friday evening and Monday morning: We spent the weekend at the beach.
2. this period as extended by one or more holidays, days off, or the like, that immediately precede or follow: We’re getting a three-day weekend at Christmas.
3. any two-day period taken or given regularly as a weekly rest period from one’s work: I have to work at the hospital on Saturdays and Sundays, so I take my weekends on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
-adjective
4. of, for, or on a weekend: a weekend pass; a weekend excursion.
-verb
5. to pass the weekend, as at a place: They weekended at their country place.

TRIGGER: Anniversary

32 years ago today, Mrs Baldyman and I (along with a whole lot of family, friends, etc.) visited a little church close to where she lived. We stood at the front of that church and made some vows. (Then we had a party!!! YAY!!!)

32 years later those vows still hold true and we’re still together, with our own family.
There have been good days and bad days. There have been ups and there have been downs.

32 years later I wouldn’t change a single day.

I pray for another 32 years.

So the trigger is….

Anniversary

I won’t define the word like I usually do.
To me, it’s not just about celebrating the one ‘anniversary day’, it’s about the whole commitment.

Instead, as this is a ‘Music’ site, I’ll leave it to the words of one of the songs below to say how I feel about Mrs. Baldyman…

“You are the air I need to breathe
the river of life inside of me
you are the half that made me whole
you are the anchor of my soul
and you are strong when I am weak
you are the words when I can’t speak
you never fail to see me through
that’s the love I found in you
you are my shelter from the storm
you are the road that leads me home
and baby with you here face to face
Oh I know I’ve found my place
and once in every life
you find the one that’s right
and when you say forever it’s true
That’s the love I found in you”

TRIGGER: Photograph

My Daughter is currently preparing for her Photography exam and last weekend we spent some time taking photographs of ‘people & places’ for her to use.

You cannot believe how hard it is to find ‘artistic’ shots on a wet and dreary Sunday.

And the looks you get when you start taking pictures of people in public places…I mean, honestly….you’d think we were being invasive. (We were?….oh well….)

So I thought the trigger today should be….

pho·to·graph  [foh-tuh-graf]

–noun
1. a picture produced by photography
2. a picture of a person or scene in the form of a print or transparent slide; recorded by a camera on light-sensitive material
–verb
3. to take a photograph of
4. record on photographic film
5. to practice photography
6. to be photographed or be suitable for being photographed in some specified way

TRIGGER: Money

The end of another financial/tax year coming up (5th April).  Now it’s time for Tax Assessment  and then there’s the VAT Return (Purchase Tax) to pay…will it never end?

After years of paying tax each month via my salary, I still can’t get used to being self-employed and submitting an annual return…it just seems like so much money to be paid in one go….frightening!
Money

So the trigger is:

mon·ey

–noun
1. any circulating medium of exchange, including coins, paper money, and demand deposits.
2. paper money.
3. gold, silver, or other metal in pieces of convenient form stamped by public authority and issued as a medium of exchange and measure of value.
4. any article or substance used as a medium of exchange, measure of wealth, or means of payment
5. a particular form or denomination of currency.
6. capital to be borrowed, loaned, or invested
7. property considered with reference to its pecuniary value.
–adjective
8. of or pertaining to money.
9. used for carrying, keeping, or handling money
10. of or pertaining to capital or finance
